Edukasi Gizi Sejak Dini untuk Pencegahan Stunting di Posyandu Pelita Bunda Korong Sigata

Abstract

Stunting is impaired linear growth resulting from chronic nutritional deficiencies and long-term health-related factors, particularly during early life. Prevention requires family understanding of maternal and child nutrition, age-appropriate feeding, hygiene, immunization, and routine growth monitoring. This community service activity aimed to improve mothers’ and caregivers’ knowledge of stunting prevention through nutrition education at Pelita Bunda Integrated Health Post, Korong Sigata, IV Koto Aur Malintang District. The activity was conducted on [activity date] and attended by community members who participated in the integrated health-post service. Thirty mothers or caregivers were selected as an evaluation sample from all participants. The methods included coordination with community health volunteers, pretest, interactive counseling, family-menu discussion, demonstrations of feeding principles, child growth and development monitoring, posttest, and reflection. Evaluation results showed that the mean knowledge score increased from 54.0 to 87.0. Understanding of the first 1,000 days of life increased from 43.3% to 90.0%, knowledge of balanced nutrition from 46.7% to 86.7%, understanding of animal-source protein and age-appropriate complementary feeding from 40.0% to 90.0%, and knowledge of growth monitoring from 56.7% to 96.7%. The activity demonstrates that nutrition education integrated into community health-post services can strengthen family knowledge and encourage routine growth monitoring. Sustainability requires support from community health volunteers, health workers, families, and local government through regular education and follow-up for children at nutritional risk.
