Festival Laras Cakrawala KKN UNP: Pengembangan Bakat, Kreativitas, dan Sportivitas Anak TK-SD

Abstract

Limited opportunities beyond formal lessons may restrict children’s talent recognition, confidence, and healthy acceptance of competition results. The Laras Cakrawala Festival was organized by Universitas Negeri Padang community service students as a forum for developing the potential of kindergarten and elementary school children through coloring, solo singing, and Ranking 1 competitions. The activity aimed to facilitate creativity, self-confidence, cognitive ability, and sportsmanship. The activity was held on July 30, 2026, at Balai Salasa IV Koto Aur Malintang using a participatory approach through coordination with local authorities, schools, parents, and community members. A total of 30 participants were selected as the evaluation sample from all festival participants, consisting of 10 participants from each competition category. Data were collected through observation sheets, judges’ assessment rubrics, brief pre- and post-activity questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the average self-development indicator increased from 62.0 to 89.3. The proportion of participants who were willing to perform or present their work increased from 53.3% to 86.7%; creativity increased from 60.0% to 90.0%; compliance with competition rules increased from 70.0% to 96.7%; acceptance of results increased from 66.7% to 93.3%; and appreciation of other participants increased from 63.3% to 90.0%. The competitions were conducted in an orderly manner, received community support, and concluded with awards for the winners. The festival demonstrates that child-friendly competition can support talent development and character education. Sustainability requires regular programs, transparent rubrics, and follow-up mentoring.
